Lucknow Development Authority approves Rs 266 crore urban development and civic infrastructure projects

Lucknow Development Authority has approved a comprehensive Rs 266 crore development package to strengthen civic infrastructure and public amenities.

Lucknow sanctions Rs 266 crore urban development plan to boost civic infrastructure

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has approved an extensive package of 120 infrastructure and beautification projects with a total investment of Rs 266 crore, aimed at strengthening the city’s urban infrastructure, improving public amenities, enhancing tourism, and upgrading emergency response capabilities.

A major highlight of the approved plan is the development of a water laser light and sound show at the Gomti riverfront, backed by an investment of Rs 25 crore. The project is envisioned as a new tourist attraction that will present the rich history of Uttar Pradesh while showcasing Lucknow’s cultural, artistic and architectural heritage through an immersive multimedia experience.

To reinforce public safety infrastructure, the authority has earmarked Rs 68 crore for the acquisition of two state-of-the-art hydraulic firefighting platforms. These specialised vehicles will enhance the city’s ability to respond to emergencies, particularly in high-rise buildings and densely developed urban areas.

The development programme also includes an allocation of Rs 15 crore for utility relocation and associated civil works under the Green Corridor project, supporting smoother execution of the city’s transport infrastructure initiatives. In addition, Rs 10.67 crore has been sanctioned for installing open-air gym facilities in parks across multiple residential neighbourhoods to encourage healthier lifestyles and community engagement.

Beyond these flagship initiatives, the approved investment covers a wide range of civic improvement works, including drainage network upgrades, infrastructure enhancement, the development of a library at Butler Palace, façade illumination projects, and recreational amenities in 150 public parks. The comprehensive development package is expected to improve urban livability, strengthen civic infrastructure, and support Lucknow’s long-term vision of sustainable and inclusive urban growth.
