Reliance Industries battery gigafactory at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar

Reliance Industries is set to commission the first phase of its battery gigafactory at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar.

Reliance to commission first phase of battery gigafactory

Reliance Industries is set to commission the first phase of its 40 GWh battery and cell gigafactory this year, marking a major step in its clean energy and advanced manufacturing strategy. The facility forms part of the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, a 5,000-acre integrated hub being developed to support India’s energy transition.

The company has already commenced production of heterojunction (HJT) solar modules at the complex, with nearly 1 GW of capacity operational. Reliance also plans to scale its battery manufacturing capacity to 120 GWh annually, positioning itself among the world’s largest producers of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

In addition, the company has secured Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) certification for its HJT technology, becoming the first Indian manufacturer to achieve this recognition. The developments reinforce Reliance’s growing focus on renewable energy, energy storage and the localisation of advanced clean energy technologies.
