Volvo Construction Equipment is expanding its European production capabilities with a new 30,000 sq m crawler excavator assembly facility in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The plant is designed to supply the European market with increased capacity, improved delivery timelines and reduced dependence on long-distance logistics. The investment, valued at SEK 700 million, will support production of up to 3,500 machines annually, covering both electric and conventional models in the 14–50 ton range. The project forms part of Volvo CE’s broader SEK 2.5 billion global investment plan for strengthening excavator manufacturing across Korea, Sweden and the United States. Construction will commence following regulatory approvals, with production expected to begin within two years of project launch.
